Subbiano Arezzo, Italy, May 2019 – This year, the new national museum of Qatar, so called “Desert Rose”, opened its doors. Tesar is proud to have delivered a total of 11 transformers to the beautifully designed building. The museum has been created by French architect Jean Nouvel, the same architect who worked on Abu Dhabi’s “The Louvre” museum, where Tesar also provided some transformers.

Located in Doha, the museum is designed as a free-form space, offering visitors a fluid experience. The space is divided into different themes but does not include any doors. The futuristic, sand-coloured structure reminds the viewer of a “rose in the desert”.

Some specifications of the project:

• 6 transformers with 1600 kVA

• 5 transformers with 800 kVA

• More than 10 years building time

• Opened to the public in March 2019

Together with the project for the Louvre in Abu Dhabi, the Desert Rose is one of the biggest museum projects Tesar has been awarded in the Middle East. We are happy to have shown our skills and are positive that we will receive similar projects in the future.
